Take Action

Pray

Somewhere there’s an orphan praying and how great is it that we are praying for them too! Your prayers are powerful and effective, reaching across borders and making a big difference! Please pray for our orphan care ministry and for the protection and hearts of the orphaned children.

Give

Your contributions help raise support for education and feeding programs for orphans in Haiti and Uganda as well as for the missions and minsitries there. An Orphan’s Prayer gives 100% of all donations directly towards those in need in places such as Haiti and Uganda and Mongolia.

Volunteer

It takes bold and determined people to help those in need. As a not-for-profit organization; every person matters and can make an impact. If you are looking for a way to volunteer with this ministry, please contact us.

Where We Help

Haiti

  • Haiti is the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere
  • 95% of aid to Haiti has been reduced since the early 1990′s
  • 70% of Haitian people live in poverty – annual income of $400 per year
  • 15% of all children in Haiti are orphaned or abandoned
  • 200,000 orphaned Haitian children live in institutions (the rest are fostered, live with relatives, or are street children)
  • 40% of the population is under the age of 15
  • A history of an extremely high maternal mortality rate contributes to the number of orphans
  • Child-headed households are becoming more common as potential guardians succumb to AIDS or other causes of death (Source: UNICEF)

Uganda

  • Uganda is located near the centre of the continent of Africa.
  • The population of Uganda is over 27 million people, most of whom are under the age of 15.
  • The number of orphaned children in Uganda is presently 2.3 million.
  • This large number of orphans is due to the high death rate of young couples dying from HIV/AIDS.

Mongolia and Around the world

An Orphan’s Prayer provided for various orphanages around the world. AOP is continually helping orphans individually that need medical attention, surgeries, or other survival necessities. Working with trusted partners and missionary in the field, AOP has helped hundreds of children that need orphan care around the world.

The 2010 Haiti earthquake was devastating. It’s estimated that as many as 3 million people have been affected by the quake, the death toll alone is roughly 330,000 people. Relief camps hold 1.6 million people, and crimes in the camps are widespread, especially against women and children. Prior to the Haiti disaster, the United Nations Children’s Fund, estimated that there were 380,000 orphans in Haiti. Post-earthquake numbers are 500,000+ orphans. Considering that Haiti is one of the poorest and most under developed nations in the world, these orphans have very little to look forward to. Haiti orphans have no organized medical care, education, spiritual guidance or even a place to call home. Orphan CARE changes the hopeless child and gives an orphan a place to call home.

What is an orphan?

To be an orphan?

To be without a mother and father.

To be abandoned?

To have parents and to be left without; to be deserted.

Our statement of faith

James 1:27
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

An Orphan’s Prayer is a non-profit organization that is centered around Christian ministry and evangelizing the word of God. We believe in the Holy Bible and that scriptures are the guidance for our personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We seek to spread the gospel and share Jesus’ love with the world. The key component of this ministry is to allow God’s love to shine through to those that may be in darkness or without hope. Our goal is to bring hope to a future generation – to the children, the orphan and the abandoned.

AOP has based it’s foundation on their mission of faith and sanction with the Savior; however, all are welcome who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus. If you would like to be involved – to give, engage and volunteer – we look forward to meeting you. Your time and care will help restore a child’s life forever.

Our Story

During a mission trip to Haiti in July 2010, Chris and Kelli Wilson visited an Haitian orphanage and learned that 15 percent of Haitian children are orphans. Inspired by what they learned, Yorkville residents Chris and Kelli Wilson announced the launch of An Orphan’s Prayer (AOP), a non-profit organization that aims to provide orphan care for impoverished, parentless children in Haiti and other areas worldwide.

An Orphan’s Prayer has also aligned with various field partners, missioniaries and missions including-The Global Orphan Project (TGOP), 1013 Missions, and other missions. AOP helps provide safe, secure facilities for orphaned children in Haiti. An Orphan’s Prayer Foundation (AOP) brings hope to a future generation. AOP restores a child’s life by providing stablility and teaching sustainablity through various AG funding programs. An Orphan’s Prayer is currently sustaining 63 orphans in the La Hatte orphanage, in Haiti. An Orphan’s Prayer is providing orphan care in Uganda, Haiti, and Mongolia. An Orphan’s Prayer helps fund surgical procedures for orphans in need of medical care around the world. Outside of An Orphan’s Prayer’s own orphanages, AOP also provides for clothing, medical, nutrition, materials for Christian education worldwide, cloth diapers and formula (AOP partners with Country Buns, they generously donated baby supplies.). AOP also partners with the 4H Club of IL, to work with the future generation of orphan children in third world countries. 4H is helping us education orphans on how to sustain livestock to produce nutritional food for their villages/orphanage and communities. AOP’s biggest long term goal is to continue to sustain orphanages and maintain a Christ-like environment for impoverished children.
